White Oak adults build real self-defense skill at Rising Tide MoCo MMA — proven technique and live practice, 15 minutes west on Randolph Road.
For White Oak and eastern Montgomery County, real self-defense training is one drive west: New Hampshire Avenue to Randolph Road, 15 minutes to Rising Tide MoCo MMA. Our curriculum is grounded in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and striking — the systems that hold up when someone actually grabs you, because they're trained against resistance.
Members learn in logical layers: awareness and avoidance first, then escapes from the most common grabs and holds, ground defense and recovery to the feet, and distance management to disengage. Live drilling is controlled and coached, building skills that work under adrenaline without unnecessary risk in training.
Our White Oak members reflect the community — FDA campus employees, healthcare workers, students, parents — many of them evening commuters who train on the way home. Women's-only classes are available, beginners are the norm, and the first class is free.
